"Did I call you an idiot right now?" Zichen counters and kicks back, "I said you can act like an idiot."

Xue Yang lets out an exaggerated whine when kicked. "That's the same thing!"

"It is not. If you were an idiot all the time, there wouldn't be any hope for you." Zichen frowns at the whine and tugs Xue Yang against him.

Xue Yang rolls his eyes, a surprised little noise leaving him when he's pulled up close to Song Lan. "What? You want another round?" he says with a playful smirk.

"Xue Yang." he types the name firmly, "You were whining like a kicked dog." and Zichen hadn't particularly liked it.

Thus. Embrace.

Xue Yang laughs a little, but he can't deny that he likes being held like this. "Aw, were you concerned about me, Song-daozhang?"

[zichen]

"No." he lies as he hugs Xue Yang tighter, his face against his neck. He breathes in deeply and, yes, finds Xue Yang's natural scent. It's comforting somehow.

"Liar," Xue Yang huffs out, but he doesn't make a single move to get out of the embrace. It strikes him that they really only have each other. Just like Yi City, except this time, Song Lan can make his own choices... and somehow, he's chosen to be here with him. He doesn't really get it, but he's not going to question it right now.

[zichen]

"I'm here. You're fine." Zichen fires back, snuggling against Xue Yang and kissing his shoulder. The stillness, the natural way they fall together does remind him of Yi City. Even there, under Xue Yang's control, he hadn't completely minded being used for warmth.
