"I'm very cruel." Zichen agrees, sounding very sad, yet he grins with each word, "Your cheeks are going to be red." he makes a pinching motion with his fingers.
Then he leads Juling to a nice opening where they can set up camp.
"We can leave Juling here. She'll be safe. Then we hike on foot."
"All four." Zichen replies without hesitation, releasing Juling from the wagon and making sure she has water and food. The mare whickers at them softly.
"Lizhu, is it safe to leave her alone?" Zichen asks the big black wolf. She sniffs the air and tilts her head.
"I'll stay for a little while and make sure." since Jiangzai is still asleep.
Xue Yang laughs. "Is that a promise~?" he teases, eyes sparkling.
He removes the bridle from Juling and puts it in the back of the carriage. It wouldn't be good if she got spooked by something and got tangled in the reins.
"I know~," Xue Yang purrs. He empties his backpack from everything they won't need on their hike, making sure they have warm clothes, water and food. They also have satellite phones for emergencies since they don't get much signal out in the woods.
He chuckles and rubs Juling's sweet face. "Be a good girl and watch over our things, huh? We'll be back before it gets dark."
A rush of warmth fills his belly and he smiles to himself. He likes that purr! Once he is adequately packed for the hike, he waits for Xue Yang, smiling softly at the attention his husband gives to their mare.
"She's very good at keeping watch." he nods to Lizhu, "If she's nervous, you know to act." he rubs the wolf's ears.
Lizhu nudges him with her head. "Get going. Everything will be fine."
Xue Yang smiles and gives both Jiangzai and Lizhu parting pets before he makes his way up to Zichen and takes his hand. Any tiredness from the morning is gone and he's only full of energy now.
Zichen squeezes Xue Yang's hand and smiles into his eyes. He cheekily steals a kiss before guiding his husband onto the path leading deeper into the forest.
Xue Yang giggles and returns the kiss, giving Zichen's hand a soft squeeze. "Mmm. It's so nice out here too." Peaceful and calm, just the way he likes it when they're together like this. As chaotic as he can be, Zichen has really made him appreciate nature and just... peace.
"The weather is perfect." Zichen agrees and lifts their hands, kissing Xue Yang's wrist, "I have a spot picked out. It won't be a difficult hike." he promises, smiling up at the trees as they walk under them.
Forests are just...special. He can sense all of the life around them.
"It is," Xue Yang says, cheeks warming under that kiss. He hooks his arm around Zichen's and leans into him, pressing a kiss to his shoulder. "All I need is you and a nice view." He laughs softly, affectionately nuzzling against his husband's arm.
Zichen rubs over Xue Yang's arm and watches their footing. He won't let his husband stumble on his watch!
"Soon." he promises and leads them up a narrow path to a rocky outcrop. He hops up on the tallest rock and reaches down to pull Xue Yang up behind him.
Xue Yang does as he's told and holds his hands out for Zichen to take as he lets himself be pulled up on the rock. He always feels safe and steady with his husband...
Zichen lifts him and sets him gently on the rock. Then he kisses his husband's cheeks.
"I love you." he pulls out a box that contains two silver pendants - to join Xue Yang's ring on the chain Zichen had given him. The pendants are in the shape of a cat and a fox.
Xue Yang's eyes brighten at the sight of the pendants and leans in to kiss Zichen. "They're beautiful," he says, smiling wide.
As he looks out over the view, he recognized a large tree that grows on an opposite cliff. "Hey, isn't that where you proposed to me?" He grins. "A nice view indeed!"
"This way, you carry your family with you while you fly." Zichen murmurs and returns the kiss warmly before tucking the box into Xue Yang's bag for safe keeping, "Mm it is." he chuckles and sits down, pulling his husband into his lap.
"You're going to be amazing, A-Yang. You always have been...to me."
Xue Yang giggles softly under those kisses. "Mmm, it was a first for me too." He tilts his head up and kisses Zichen's chin. "I'm glad I was your first," he says smugly.
"I never hated you." Zichen strokes over Xue Yang's cheek and down his neck, "That was one of my happiest days."
His husband had been adorable, asking him out so sincerely. How could he say no? Why would he say no? His heart had been racing and he had felt...so alive.
"You deserve it." he answers solemnly, "You mean everything to me."
"And you're mine." Zichen deepens the kiss with a happy hum, cuddling his husband against him. Just then, a little bird with a twig in their beak lands next to them.
